How To Network With Billionaires – Steve Sims
We’ve all probably had those moments where we limit ourselves from dreaming big or setting a goal because we instantly tell ourselves that it’s impossible. We use fear to stop us. But what if you knew how successful people take on their goals?
Steve Sims is the CEO and Founder of The Blue Fish — the elite lifestyle concierge service for celebrities, corporate executives, and professional athletes. He shares in this episode his story of how he came about with Blue Fish, and how he now coaches people to dream stupid or go for stupid so they can achieve more than their “achievable dreams”.
3 Key Points
- Changing your mindset sounds cliche. But the people you hang around with makes a big impact on how you set your goals, your views, and how you take things into stride. So choose the room you’re in.
- Go for stupid. Go for a goal that’s so ridiculous people will laugh at you.
- If you can open your mind to opportunities, achieve a few things you didn’t think would be achievable, your mind suddenly opens up and demands opportunities.
Poor people hang around with poor people.
I decided I had to change my room. I decided to change the people I was hanging around with.
I got to see the rich people how they acted. I also got to see how the fake rich people how they pretended.
I got to ask them, “how come you’re so successful and I’m where I am?” I wanted to get that mindset. That was the whole point of the journey.
You can be successful without being a billionaire.
They appreciate failure. Successful people are the ones that lean in to the failure. They figure out how and where they got it wrong. Non-successful people, repel and cry.
They allow failure to refine them, not define them.
They value relationships over accolades and credentials. They recruit culture. They employ people and cultural fit.
A brand is being built based on the recipient’s demand. You have to focus on your message being really simple and impossible to misunderstand. Branding has to be an incredibly simplified message that is impossible to misunderstand to help recipients spread your message.
Go for stupid. Go for a goal that’s so ridiculous people will laugh at you.
You subconsciously tell yourself that impossible when you say it’s impossible.
If you can open your mind to opportunities, achieve a few things you didn’t think would be achievable, your mind suddenly opens up and demands opportunities. You suddenly recognize where they are. Your subconscious actually starts working for you rather than against you.
If you tell yourself you can’t do it, you’re right.
People use fear to stop them. I use fear to fuel me.
Like all entrepreneurs, aggravated oysters make pearls.
If something bothers me, then I want to go and do it. If I’m sitting still, I look for something to challenge myself.
I’m now creating the rooms I wanna live in with the right kind of creative disruptors.
Sharpen your tools now and let’s get ready to fight.
